Why the Diary

Reasons for the website

I am a totally independent dealing diary (as my name suggests)It is a free trading diary of what trades I do or am doing and you get to see the deal flow and listen in to my ideas. It is completely anonymous,as I am still working full-time meaning that I can continue to access real-time and relevant information.

Make money out of volatility and

I speak to traders, institutions, spread betting firms and investigate all other avenues that might give me some extra insight into what is the trade of the day. You know that it is rare to get everyone agreeing (that is what makes the market) so that means no one really knows, especially now. So if you think that essentially anyone you pay to make decisions on your behalf doesn’t really know, therefore they are gambling with your money. There are other factors that may make them trade with your money that are not altogether aligned with your objectives. Because you are paying them, they feel obliged to make decisions, based on benchmarks, bonuses, trends, things that shouldn’t be effecting ‘your’ money. They should treat every penny as their own....and they just don’t. If I am going to lose money then I want to do it myself and not pay someone who doesn’t really know me to lose it on my behalf.

I have a background in Private Equity which, through our investee companies gives me a fantastic window into what sectors are outperforming others and where the real growth and scalable opportunities are.

I used to be a foreign exchange trader and while I am certainly not the smartest kid on the block, I speak to those that are.I am not good at everything, like bonds and options,(arguably I am not good at anything) so guess what, I don’t trade in them. I have friends who make money out of trading in just one thing, for me that isn’t fun but it sure does pay the bills, focus on what you are good at and stay clear of what you don’t understand, maybe a lesson some of the Bankers would’ve been wise to have adhered to.

I have the latest reports and access to the ideas of successful money managers so I know what everyone (not literally) is saying or thinking.I have systems and focuses that I feel give me an edge . I am completely honest and you can see my deal sheets at the beginning and end of everyday. I make money, not all of the time but enough of the time. If that’s so why would I want to launch a website I hear you cynics say, partly vanity, secondly to see if anyone is interested and thirdly(and most importantly) because it helps me keep my discipline. You will nearly always trade or perform better if you feel a sense of responsibility, by making these deals public I am almost forcing myself to be a better trader. It is part of the human psyche.
